ABSTRACT
The research work is designed to show the over view of the activities in the down stream oil sector deregulation process and it’s effects on the economic development of this great Nation Nigeria.

With historical analysis in the work, it can be understood that Nigerians, has undergone many phases of changes and transformation in the on sector which has in one way or the other transformed the nations economy but universally proportional to the development of the general well being of the populace who owns this resources.

Nigeria among other nations has been known globally as a nation endowed with sound mineral resources like oil and other thirty mineral resources that are yet to be exploited and developed to better the lives of the citizens. Question is how is the Nigerian government trying to develop these resources? What economic benefit does it hold for all Nigerians? Who & who is the major player in the development of this sector? All these and many others are explained in this research work with five chapters.

Chapter one shows the significance, objective, statement of the problem facing the sector, and Research questions which were explained further. While Chapter two explained the concept of oil Reform historically, literature reviews where used to explain the nature of Nigerian oil sector, concept and so on. The methodology to be adopted in the study would be stated in chapter three. Chapter four shall focus on the presentation and analysis of collected data. The last chapter- chapter five would present the summary of the finding, conclusion and appropriate recommendations.
